Bible with a Beat is a fun way to learn scriptures from the
Bible with music. You can listen to these songs individually and sing along with them. You can learn them
together with others in your youth group or with friends. You can use Bible with a Beat as
the main content of a Vacation Bible School or other summer church camp. The important thing is to learn more
about God from the Bible and have fun doing it!
The idea for these songs came one evening with my church youth group at a pizza restaurant. While I was sitting
there with our group I noticed a girl across from me silently mouthing all the words to a pretty raunchy song that was playing
in the pizza place. She knew every word and was silently singing along as she ate her pizza and enjoyed her friends
in the group. I said to myself, "Wouldn't it be great if she had a bunch of positive, spiritural words in her head and
on her lips?"
So I set out to write some scripture songs with a rap / hip-hop style and the result was Bible with a Beat.
I am indebted to Andra Moran for co-writing several of the songs and for producing the first CD. I am also indebted
to Sarah Barthel for her assistance in producing the dance / motions DVD and a myriad of other parts of the whole program.

This was the first performance of the Bible with a Beat songs. It came on a Saturday evening
after a Monday through Friday, 9 am to noon, Bible with a Beat camp. A variety of kids and
youth from second graders to high school seniors learned and performed five of the eight songs. This was at First Christian
Church, Pittsburg, KS, in August of 2003.
