Books

Occasionally students need extra help on an assignment or a friendly review of material from earlier classes.  I will try to list sites that are appropriate to our level of study. If you know of any which are helpful, please share them with me and I will post them for others to use.

General Study Tips

Here are some helpful hints:
  • Science is based on logic and sequencing.  Take notes in an outline type format.
  • Learn common scientific word building blocks.  (e.g., prefixes- mono, di, tri)
  • Try to interchange science terms for common words (e.g., "it's humid today" instead of "it's sticky today")
  • When writing, never forget who your audience is. The written word is meant to be read, but it won't always be read by the same audience. Tailor your writing style to suit the people who will be reading your work. In Science class, we are all scientists!
  • Discover your own study skills.  What works best for you?  Notecards? Highlighting? Rewriting notes?  You won't know what works unless you try it!
