610 Slip Over Dress

Materials: Four Ply Knit weight yarn. Crochet hook size G, or size to give correct gauge.

Gauge:  8 sc = 2 inches; 10 rows = 2 inches.

Sizes:  Directions are for size Small. Changes for Medium, Large and Extra-large are in parenthesis. Basic size is based on Bust measurement.

Note:  Dress is worked in rounds until underarm.  Pattern allows for either Front or Back to be a lower cut than the other side.  Can be worn either way.

Skirt: Beg at lower edge, make a ch = to chest or hip measurement, which ever is larger.  For a looser fit-make ch about 2 inches longer than measurement.  Rnd 1:  Being careful not to twist ch, join with slip st to form ring.  Ch 1, sc in each ch around. Join with slip st, ch 1, turn. Rnd 2:  Sc in each sc around. Join with slip st, ch 1, turn. Repeat Rnd 2 until desired length to underarm. Ch 14(16-18-19) at end of last round after joining. Do not end off.

Divide for Front and Back: On last round worked, place a marker half way around, dividing work into two equal parts.  Joining with be one Side Edge; marker will be other Side Edge.  At marker, with second skeen yarn, attach yarn and ch 13(15-17-18) for sleeve.  End off second yarn.  Row 1:  Sc in second ch from hk and each ch to sc, sc in each sc to other ch, sc in each ch.  Ch 1, turn.  Row 2:  Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat Row 2 until 3 1/4(4-4-4 1/2) inches from underarm ch. Do not end off.

Center Front Neck: Mark center 13(15-17-18) on last row for neck opening.  Row 1: Wk in sc to marked sts, slip st in next st.  End off. Turn.  Row 2: Skip first ten sts on last row, attach yarn in next st; sc in same st and each st to end. Ch 1, turn. Row 3:  Sc in each sc to last six sts; slip st in next st. Do not ch, but turn.  Row 4:  Slip st in first two sts, sc in each st to end. Ch 1, turn. Row 5: Sc in each sc to last two sc, dec one sc over next two sc. Ch 1, turn. Row 6: Work in sc across. Ch 1, turn.  Row 7: Repeat Row 5.

Then repeat Row 6 until sleeve measures 7(7 1/2-8-8 1/2-9) inches.  End off.

On last long row at beg of Center Front Neck, skip marked sts; attach yarn in next sc, sc in same sc, sc to end.  Repeat other half of Neck Opening to match first, be sure to reverse shaping.

Back:  On last long Rnd, attach yarn in opposite side of ch for sleeve.  Row 1:  Sc in each ch, sc and ch across. Ch 1, turn.  Row 2:  Sc in each sc across.  Ch 1, turn.  Repeat Row 2 twice more.

Center Back Neck:  Work same as Center Front shaping from this point.

Dress can be worn either way so the lower cut neck line can be Front or Back. Example is lower neck line in the front.

Finishing:  Sew Shoulder seams.  From right side of work, attach yarn at either shoulder seam; work one round of sc around neck opening; occasionally working two sc together to draw shoulders in toward neck for more secure shoulder fit.  End off. Sew in all loose ends.
