PRELIMINARY INFORMATION FOR THE
MURDER/MYSTERY PERFORMANCE.

Outlined below are the things, which will help us provide an evening, which is both fun and challenging to your guests.

IT'S IMPERATIVE THAT THOSE ATTENDING KNOW IN ADVANCE THAT THEY ARE GOING TO EXPERIENCE A MURDER MYSTERY DINNER THEATER PRESENTATION.  THIS WILL PUT THEM IN THE CORRECT FRAME OF MIND AND WILL HELP TREMENDOUSLY WHEN OUR PERFORMERS INTERACT WITH THEM.

1.  When booking a Murder Mystery you have agreed to cover the cost of dinner for the 8 or 9  (Depending on what show is being performed)  performers and one director.   The performers need to be seated among your guests in a certain manner (Again depending on what show is being performed).   The Director should not be seated with the guests and can eat in the same area as the sound.

2. The performers will need a room in which to change.  This room will also serve as the place where the "body" is taken and where the "suspects"
sequester themselves after the interrogation, which takes place following the dinner.

3.  We will be bringing our own sound system.

4.  Six chairs or stools will be needed during the performance.  If the room does not have a raised area or a stage to give your guests an unobstructed view we find that high bar stools work the best.  We don't need a large performance space, (or a stage)  just an area where the entire cast can intermingle with one another and which offers a clear view from each of your guest tables.

5.  If a cash bar is planned, we will cover the cost of any beverages we order.  The cast is prohibited from drinking alcohol of any sort during the performance and will only be asking for soda.  Please alert the person(s)
attending the bar that each cast member will say the words "put this on the company tab" whenever they request a drink and to keep a running tab for us.   After the performance, we will pay the bill.

6.  Most groups for which we perform provide at least one prize for the guest who correctly answers all the "whodunit" questions.  Some examples of prizes have been bottles of wine, dinner for two, murder mystery games, gift certificates to in house pro-shops etc.  While it's not necessary to have a prize, it does provide a fun incentive for everyone to aim for.

7.  Starting time for the event should be based on the fact that we have approximately 20-25 minutes of scenes, which must take place BEFORE
dinner begins.   So you should first decide what time you want dinner to start, then backtrack 20 minutes from there.  If you inform your guests to be present no later than 1/2 hour before dinner actually begins, so no one will miss any of the important clues which are divulged during the first sequence.  We will inform the kitchen when we begin and again approximately 5 minutes before the end of this sequence so they'll be able to judge their starting time.  PLEASE MAKE SURE THE SERVERS ARE AWARE THAT THEY MUST WAIT FOR OUR CUE BEFORE BEGINNING.   The event will work equally well with a sit-down or buffet service.

8.  Once dinner begins the actual serving, should continue according to whatever schedule the kitchen has set for itself.  We will work around that schedule for any additional scenes we perform.  The servers should feel free to move around the room and should not worry about being in our way
Please be aware that the longer it takes to serve dinner, the more it slows the pace of the murder mystery itself.

9.  After dinner there is an interrogation of the remaining suspects, which takes approximately 20-25 minutes.  During that interrogation, we will ask that the servers make as little noise as possible clearing tables so that everyone's attenton can be focused on the clues which are being given.  Following that, your guests are challenged to fill out ballots with their  guesses.  We've found that, during the 10-15 minutes we give, we can inform the kitchen approximately 5 minutes before the end of the interrogation so they will know when to have dessert ready.  If dessert can't wait until this point in the evening there is no problem  It doesn't affect the performance one-way of the other.  Just let us know what your preference is.

10.  If there are no delays in the serving, the length of the evening is approximately 2 1/4 to 2  1/2 hours from the time we begin our first scene before dinner.

11.  We will arrive in plenty of time to set up and will be responsible for placing all playbills, ballots, pencils and evidence envelopes on the guest tables.

12.  We would also need a small table toward the front of the room where we are performing for the sound equipment.

13.  Depending on the show we will need 4 names,  2 men and 2 women to use during the beginning of the show.

14.  Payment should be made following the performance and can be in cash or with a check.  If a check is written, please make it out to "B&G Murder Mystery Company".

We want to do everything possible to make sure that the event is pleasurable not only for your group but for you as the promoter.  Please don't hesitate to discuss any concerns or questions you may have with us.
