Well, it's just about the month of May and so many exciting events happening for the month of May and June.  The fifth grade band is preparing for the Grafton Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26th. They will be marching with the middle school band.  It's going to be a "loud, strong" marching band of about 200 students!

Beginner Band Group A and Group B will be combined into one HUGE band (about 110 students).  The two combined groups will rehearse every Tuesday from now to till the spring concert in June.  The songs the group is reheasing are "Midnight Madness" and "Rhythm X."  Keep on practicing!!

Fifth Grade Band earns a Bronze Medal!
Congratulations to the 5th grade band for earning a Bronze Medal at the recent MICCA Festival at Hopkinton High School.  The 65 band members performed "William Tell Overture", "A Prehistoric Suite", and "Honor March." Three judges adjudicated the band and the group also had the opporutnity to particpate in a clinic with one of the judges.  The band impressed many people with their talent and performance. Thank you to parents for your continous support and encouragement.  Without it, this would not have been possible. The band should be proud of what they acheived. This is the first time ever that the fifth grade band participated in the festival at the elementary level.  Way to go!!

5th Grade Concert Band to perform at MICCA Music Festival
The Fifth Grade Band is performing at the MICCA Music Festival this Saturday, April 5th.  This is the first year that the Fifth Grade Concert Band is representing the district at the elementary school level at MICCA The music festival encourages and supports high performance standards by high school, middle school, and elementary school music organizations by providing musical adjudication. Groups are evaluated on the merit of their performance and awards presented are based on a medals system (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Medal of Merit, and Medal of Participation). If the band scores a gold medal this weekend, they are then invited to perform at Symphony Hall Boston in May. The students have been practicing and preparing for this event.  Good luck band!
