December 2009
Scooter has been purchased, and moved to Sadler Point Marina in Jaxonville, Florida .
She is awaiting the mast's to be unstepped and bottom cleaned
and loaded on a transport truck to Tampa Bay where she will
undergo a thorough going over.

And to rebuild / refinish what is needed to restore her to her former glory.

On the move from the mooring, Scooter was found to have no reverse gear operating...after arrival in Tampa Bay she was found to have a bad transmission.
The transmission was removed, cleaned and found to be unusable for rebuild.

Another transmission (hurth #10) was aquired, disassembled , cleaned, new seals , bearings , clutches installed.
NOTE; use Royal Purple synthetic ATF !! NOT THE CHEAP STUFF!

Transmission case was repainted with enamel, baked in oven
for a super hard finish and then assembled.

The gearbox is now quiet and working like a charm...

The Transmission removal instructions are included on
the Transmission removal page..

Now with the main hatches resealed, the main salon portlights resealed
All the stancion base bolt holes epoxied and redrilled.
The cabin heater stack collar rebuilt, the mast step resealed and the
holes in the cabin top all epoxied closed the cabin top got a treatment
of sealer and fairing. Then a nice coat of medium beige non-skid.

Wow what a difference... took twice the time to mask off everything
than it took to paint it. It was well worth the time.

Just waiting for the new Teak Hand Rails to complete the cabin top.
