Who am I?

Am I responsible, serious, peaceful, odd, strange, quiet, stubborn, shallow, envious, reserved, dependable, outspoken, impersonal, jealous, boring, dull, happy, sad, good, bad, gentle, miserable, funny, nutty, crazy, stable, independent, pratical, creative, kind, friendly, sensitive, traditional, intuitive, flexible, organized, fun-loving, laid-back, or warm-hearted?

I am probably some of those some of the time but not all of those all of the time!

Now at reaching 50, I don't think I know me any better than I did when I was 20.  I say this because I believe during the course of my life I have been ever changing and evolving based on the challenges and experiences confronted along my journey.  These situations have taught me many lessons, changed me and they continue to mold me.

Choice in the road

Career Path..
An employment journey filled with many curves, detours, bi-ways, tunnels and quite a few potholes along the way!

Some people know exactly what they want to be when they grow up and they actually do become just that, others want to be just like Mom or Dad, as for me I never knew and stumbled along the way, trial and error brought me through a winding road of various tasks. some great adventures and always a yearning for something new.

Your biggest opportunity probably lies under your own feet, in your current job, industry, education, experience or interests.

What jobs I have experienced!

Oh yes I remember back to the days of working at Ponderosa when their seating appeared as long picnic tables; being employed at Sear's and scooping candy from the old glass bins; working retail sales at the Deb-Joy Shoppe in my teens, it was a cool store then; and The Rams Horn, I don't think they even exist anymore!  Also retail sales at the Village Fashion Outlet who didn't last very long.

I have bused tables, waitressed, cooked, bartended, flipped pizzas and yes I even worked up the ladder managing three restaurants all at the same time!  Talk about one crazy adventure of many sleepless nights and alot of 16 hour days.  I survived!

I worked as a receptionist for a supply house nowadays there's Office Max and Staples.  The times are a changing!  In the good ole days of A.B. Dick and E.N. Dunlap, I worked from receptionist to invoicing to bookkeeping.  I was even a secretary for the county night court; a secretary for a landfill and yes even worked for a demolition company.

I had an interesting craft excursion at Ben Franklin Crafts Store starting at the loading dock and eventually working my way out on the floor stocking shelves, creating displays and then up to buying trips with much to see and long days!  My first time on an airplane!

I worked for Readings and Greetings, a Hallmark card shop with adorable gifts and some time before that at Twice Around a unique second hand furniture shop.  Both of them no longer exist!

I have had a wide range of employment but in looking back I have to say the job I hold today is the most suited for me.  I am a church secretary, though the pay is light the rewards are great.  I love my work, my job and the people of the church.

I grew up in small town USA, we never locked the door and had several Mom and Pop stores:  a hardware store, a pharmacy, a grocer and a deli but sadly they don't exist anymore.  It sure was great enjoying those malt shakes and the penny candy.  Back then you could sweep a store front and gain a bag of loot.

When you walked down the streets you knew everyone and everyone knew you.  It was a close knit community full of warmth and smiles.  The small six room brick schoolhouse has been long replaced, the church caught fire and now it's a day care center and the old fire company recently closed.  A sign of the changing times!

Times were simplier back then, kids played softball, basketball, roller skated, and went swimming in the creek on warm summer days.  Skipping puddles on a rainy day was the highlight of our summer!  We couldn't wait until fall, our entertainment was to rake large piles of leaves jumping in and throwing them at each other, I can still here the laughter.  Winter was the best, we met at the hill for sleigh riding and we knocked down the icicles and ate them!  Nowadays we barely see snow!
