The Bill Peterson Trio is
an exciting jazz group that captivates and entertains its audiences wherever it performs.
The trio is comprised of three musicians who come from different backgrounds but have come together to play with one
heart and mind. Performances by the trio include creative original pieces as
well as jazz standards. The group’s music captures a fresh sound that incorporates
influences form contemporary jazz, classical, Latin, blues and swing and traditional styles.
The group is known for its musical communication and sensitive
playing as well as for its amazing fire and virtuosity.
In May 2004, The Trio recorded
its debut CD “The Bill Peterson Trio”, which includes 8 original
compositions by Bill Peterson and Jeff Denson as well as fresh interpretations of 4 jazz standards, “You’d
be So Nice to Come Home to”, “Everything Happens to Me”, “Prelude
to a Kiss”, and “Countdown”.
Bill Peterson, pianist
Bill Peterson, Associate Professor
of jazz piano at Florida State University received his B.M. degree from Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and the Master
of Music from the Eastman School of Music. His teachers have included Bill
Dobbins, Fred Hersch, Kenny Werner and Katherine Teves. Bill Peterson was a finalist
in the Great American Jazz Piano Competition in 1992 and 1999.
Bill has performed with Freddie
Hubbard, Joe Lovano, Bob Brookmeyer, Tom Christensen, Lynn Seaton, Rick Van Matre, Richard Davis, Rufus Reid, Kenny Wheeler, and has written big band arrangements for David
Liebman, Richie Beirach and Barry Harris.
Jeff Denson, bassist
Jeff Denson received his B.M.
in Performance, Cum Laude from the Berklee College of Music and is currently pursuing his M.M. in Jazz studies from Florida State University. His teachers have included
John Lockwood, Dave Samuels, Joe Lovano, Hal Crook, and Marcus Roberts.
Jeff had been actively performing
since 1996 throughout the Washington D.C. area, New England, and the Southeast. He
has performed with such artists as Phil Grenadier, Andre Hayward, Chuck
Reid, Hod O’Brian, Longienu Parsons, and Joe Lovano. He has played n the
Cologne Jazz Night 2004 Jazz Festival in Germany as well as the International Jazz Festival Viersen, also in Germany. More on Jeff at www.jeffdenson.com
Ronen Itzik, drummer
Ronen Itzik received his B.M.
in Performance from the Berklee College of Music and is currently pursuing his M.M. in Jazz studies from Florida State University. Among his teachers have been Ian Froman, Jamey Haddad, Joe Hunt, John Hazilla, Joe
Lovano, Dave Samuels, Marcus Roberts, and Hal Crook.
Ronen has been actively performing
since 1992 throughout Israel and since his arrival in the United States: Boston, New York, and the Southeast. He has performed with such artists as Joe Lovano, Vardan Ovsepian, Bruno Raberg, Rodney Jordan, and Bill
Kennedy.
