"What on earth is a music ensemble made up of a bassoonist, an oboist, a pianist, a singer, and a percussionist? Pleasure. That’s what it is. Pleasure."  Uel Wade, ccSCOOP.com, January 26, 2009

Oboist Nicole Golay, bassoonist Cornelia McGiver, pianist Sylvia Buccelli, soprano Kelly Ellenwood and percussionist-composer David Gluck are Madera Vox, a classical crossover ensemble performing progressive and provocative  repertoire.  Their diverse programming includes masterworks of the double reed trio canon, innovative arrangements and newly commissioned pieces.  The group was founded in 2007 and recently recorded their debut CD at the historic Howland Cultural Center in Beacon, New York.  The recording is scheduled for release in early Fall 2009 and will feature composer and ensemble member David Gluck’s Coney Island Suite with text by ensemble member and Broadway veteran Kelly Ellenwood.

Black Bear's Hudson Valley TalePlanning of our new “music-telling” theatrical piece for audiences of all ages has begun in collaboration with award-winning Hudson Valley children’s author, Iza Trapani.

The approximately 1-hour long theatrical concert - titled Black Bear's Hudson Valley Tale -  will weave an original story, original instrumental and vocal music, and creative movement into a performance that will engage the hearts and minds of children and their families, allowing them to “see” with their ears and “hear” with their eyes. The production is scheduled for its premiere at the Center for the Performing Arts in Rhinebeck, NY in Fall 2009, to coincide with the conclusion of the Hudson/Fulton Quadricentennial.
