Here is some feedback from the 2008 MAOC Camp.
Guys,
My last two games [season 2008-09], I worked with 2 veteran officials [who have worked many 6A Boys State Championship
games, names omitted]. I am not exaggerating when I tell you these were the biggest 2 games of my career. I have to tell you
that your camp prepared me completely for these games. First, I probably would have never been assigned these games had it
not been for attending your camp and changing the way I look at officiating for having attended your camp. And second, being
able to go into these games with the confidence and ability to do a good job and not [mess] anything up can be attributed
to everything I learned at camp. Both games went perfectly. I learned so much working with these guys and discovered a whole
new layer of things I still need to learn. It was the best experience I've ever had in officiating. And it is all thanks to
you and your great camp and all the things I took away from it.
I know not everyone will take away all that I was able to from camp. I was fortunate enough in my first year at [your]
camp to be evaluated by 3 veteran officials [who have worked many 6A Boys State Championship games, names omitted]. What an
opportunity! I decided then and there that I wasn't going to squander that opportunity - it was a career changing event for
me. My schedule has improved considerably. My confidence has improved dramatically. The weight loss had something to do with
that as well, but I wouldn't have lost the weight had it not been recommended by John during my eval at (guess where?) your
camp.
I take a lot of pride in my work on the court. I feel like I've earned my place. Many of my peers who I consider to be
in the same tier of abilities, but varying levels of passion, are unhappy with their schedules. I am thrilled with mine. Hard
work pays off. You have to put in the effort to reap the rewards.
I want to thank you sincerely for providing the stepping stones for me to put in that effort. It's all up to me what I
did with it. I think I did well.
My sincere appreciation. Please keep doing what you're doing and continue to get the best evaluators you can get. It made
a huge difference for me.
Regards,
2008 Camper
