At the core of the Metro All-Star Officials Camp (MAOC) direction and philosophy is to stress and teach the fundamentals of
NHFS rules / mechanics and to further the concept of “One Rule, One Interpretation, One Mechanic”.
The Metro All-Star Officials Camp (MAOC) was conceived with the intention of providing a place where officials at various
stages in their career could benefit from the insights and experiences of veterans of the OSAA State Tournament.
We have based the camp on the premise that to be successful in life a person should identify someone who has accomplished
what they wish to accomplish and duplicate that person’s effort. It is our intention to foster a camp where instruction,
sharing and mentoring come easy to campers and clinicians. We hope to foster this network so it will continue past the camp
where people can feel free to call and ask each other questions and share situations.
Our speakers will be a mix of veteran officials, association commissioners and coaches whose teams are attending the clinic.
The clinicians will be chosen to deliver a topic to the campers based on that clinician’s attributes and experience
taken into consideration.
The camp format will be a mixture of classroom and on court experiences. Each camper will be presented with a video of one
of their games with commentary from an evaluator. Evaluators will use the OSAA State Tournament Evaluation tool to evaluate
all games and review with each camper at the conclusion of that game. All campers will have the benefit and experience of
different evaluators for each game (unless a camper wants only one person for multiple games).
