Scoutmaster, do you often wonder
how you can get your scouts to take on leadership?
Scouts, do you often wish that
things would change in your troop and that you could take more leadership in the planning of your troop?
The above questions are some
of the key elements for the National Youth Leadership Training event at Custalogatown
July 19 through July 25, 2009. Ask a youth who has attended a JLT conference
about the changes that were made in his life at camp.
“National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, action-packed program
designed to provide youth members of the
Boy Scouts of America with leadership skills
and experience they can use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.
The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE,
what he must KNOW, and what he must DO.
The key elements are then taught with a clear
focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.
NYLT is a six-day course. Content is delivered in a troop and patrol
outdoor setting with an emphasis on immediate
application of learning in a fun environment.
Interconnecting concepts and work processes are introduced early, built upon, and aided by the use of mnemonics (memory aids), which allows participants to understand and employ the leadership skills much faster.”
We are forming a team of adults
and youth to participate in NYLT. What can you do?
Youth encourage your troop to
send two to three scouts to this training event! And even register yourself to
participate.
Scouts that are Life or Eagle
sign up to help in this training course!!
Adults both Scoutmasters and
other staff join us as we form a Troop committee for NYLT. We will function as
a troop committee should. We need representatives from every District in our
Council to help encourage your youth to attend NYLT.
