Bonding and Grounding Certification

Who Does This Affect?

Any swimming pool or spa at other than one and two family dwellings and for use by the public

Swimming pool and spa bonding and grounding certification is required for other than one and two family occupancies in the State of New Jersey.  On February 9th 1999, a new law, P.L. 1998 C. 137, Bill No. 213, was put into effect in New Jersey.  This law is supplemental  to the State Uniform Construction Code and requires that you obtain:

  • An electrical certificate of compliance
  • A bonding and grounding certificate

The electrical certificate of compliance is valid for one year and must  be   filed  annually.  The  bonding and grounding certificate is valid for  a period of 5 years.

To meet these requirements. you must schedule a test to verify the electrical continuity and integrity of the bonding and grounding system of the pool, and an inspection of electrical compliance to verify that all wiring located in or around the pool pump and associated electrical equipment is compliant with the State Uniform Construction Code.

John E. Camburn & Son, Inc. has been providing this service to our clients since the day the law went into effect.   As we are a New Jersey Licensed Electrical Contractor, our technicians are qualified to perform the testing and make any necessary repairs to the bonding and grounding system.
