Gas companies have a responsibility to maximize their earnings for owners and shareholders. A contract that is in their best interest is not necessarily in the landowners’ best interest. We do not view the relationship with gas companies as necessarily adversarial. The purpose of negotiating a contract is to develop a binding agreement that is fair, equitable, and acceptable to all parties.
