Dan Fogelberg – “Sometimes A Song”

Dan Fogelberg – Sometimes A Song

Dan Fogelberg – “Sometimes A Song”

I was browsing our little web neighborhood this afternoon and found myself at the official web site of the late, great, American singer and songwriter Dan Fogelberg.

I have always been a big fan of Dan Fogelberg and have been collecting his albums since that first one, “Home Free” which came out the year I graduated from high school. 1972.

I knew Dan had passed away in December of 2007. I did not know the cause of his early demise, or what he and his wife, Jean, had done to make guys like me aware of the dangers of prostate cancer.

While reading the web site, I learned about a song Dan had written for Jean as a Valentine gift. The song is called “Sometimes A Song”. And it is a beautiful love song in the tradition of “Run For the Roses”, “Longer” and other great love songs Dan has written over the years.

The song can be downloaded from amazon.com digital music service. The cost is only .99 cents, and the money goes to the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation.

Check out the research foundation, and while you are there, order the beautiful lapel pin Dan’s widow Jean designed.

Go ahead. Get the song. Get the lapel pin.  You will be glad you did. And get that prostate cancer checkup ASAP!

Lucky Gets All Clear From Dr. Yoder!

Lucky Gets the All Clear!

Thanks to God, and the skills and talents He has bestowed upon Dr. Theresa Yoder and the amazing staff at Ridge Animal Hospital in Lake Wales, Florida, Lucky has been given the all clear bill of health and permission to return to work.

"The cancer Lucky had has taken the lives of many dogs who did not get treatment in time" according to one of the staff.  "He is indeed a lucky dog"!

But, once again, I'm the Lucky One!  I knew when Lucky was given to me back in 2003, the day would come when, he would no longer be a part of my life.  I am not quite ready for that day.  And I may never be.  But for right now, today, Lucky is alive and well, and I am very grateful to God, Dr. Yoder, Ashley, Ann, Marie and all the staff at Ridge Animal Hospital.

Future Guide Dogs

One of these could be guiding you one day!

Seeing the world through Lucky Eyes while doing the Labrador Shuffle

sums up in a vague sort of way what Music for Sight is all about and how music can create visual imagery in the mind of the visually impaired.  There is more to it than that though.  There is the big issue of successfully dealing with the psychological challenge of getting along in a world that takes for granted everyone possesses all five of the senses we were all meant to have.  Here we focus on sight loss.  And we focus on what it takes to get along in the world without sight.  It isn’t easy, but it is done every day by men, women and children from all walks of life.

There's a good deal of opportunity for the blind and visually impaired to find assistance with getting  along in the world.  One of those is the amazing gift of a guide dog.  And so we'll focus a lot on that.

We will also bring you news on technology, world events, weather, sports and politics.

Stop by often, and tell your friends about Music for Sight!

Say What You what you Wanna Say…

I would like to invite you to offer your thoughts and opinion on any of the topics discussed here.  It’s a public place, so of course we want to keep it classy, except for maybe the upcoming elaphs pages, which may get a little trashy, other than that though, say what you mean and mean what you say.  Others want to hear what you have to say, and so do I, and here’s yet another place to let your voice be heard.

Were it not for the absolutely fabulous gift of a guide dog I would probably not have been walking so boldly down Central Avenue the day this picture was taken.  And if I had been taking the walk anyway, I would either have been hanging on to someone, or tapping my way along with the trusty old white cane.  Not that there is anything wrong with that.  It's just the feeling of freedom I got when I learn to put my trust in a dog like Lucky.

It is such a powerful feeling, I just have to share it with the world.  And so, once again, Welcome to Music for Sight!

Mission Statement

Everybody’s On A Mission

Well I'm a man on a mission

I'm gonna learn to walk a dog.

I got tired of life's competitions

Walking around in a constant fog.

Now don't get me wrong

Your help was truly divine

Just somehow it seems

my rythym is a little out of time.

Now, I'm a man on a mission

Gonna learn to walk a dog.
