Sightings of "pterodactyls" are hardly restricted to Papua New Guinea: In both Western and Eastern Australia, eyewitnesses have seen what seem to be giant pterosaurs; they're alive.

Late in 1997, over suburbs of Perth, Australia, a gliding creature was seen approaching a couple who were taking an evening stroll. As it came closer, the husband and wife were shocked: It looked gigantic, with long tail and a "lizard" appearance that seemed completely outside the woman's concept of reality. The man, who worked in a scientific field, was able to observe details missed by his wife, who was too shocked. The wingspan he estimted to be between thirty and fifty feet. As much as his rational mind wanted to believe in the smaller size, his observation suggested it was closer to fifty feet.

Another Australian Sighting

In the early 1990's, on the coast of Eastern Australia, a 12-year-old farm boy was finishing his chores at about 9:30 p.m. when he noticed something very strange: A large winged creature was sitting on the shed. It was larger than a six-foot-tall man with wings that folded back in a way he had never before seen. When the boy returned with his parents, the creature was gone.
