Dragons, including large flying creatures, were reported in Europe centuries ago. Could those records have come from eyewitness descriptions of what we now call "ropen?" Apparently, the "dragons" were not all killed by knights.

In the summer of 2007, a young English man was camping in a field in Eastern Spain. He saw something flying one night and assumed it was an owl; but when he got a better look, it was obviously no owl. The creature appeared featherless, with a long thin tail. It could not have been a large bat, for it had not only a long tail but a beak, a beak that was unlike the short beak of an owl.
