In 1944, just west of Finschhafen, New Guinea, two American soldiers were startled by a giant creature that took off into the air. Duane Hodgkinson still maintains the reality of that strange "pterodactyl" that had a wingspan as great as a private plane. For over half a century, Duane was been unwavering, in spite of those who disbelieve in live pterosaurs.

Hodgkinson was, at first, a replacement, being assigned to an Australian military unit near Finschhafen in 1944. He was later in the 43rd Artillery.

A study by a forensic (legal) videographer suggests that the "pterodactyl" described by the World War II veteran Duane Hodgkinson is a real creature that lives in coastal areas . . .
