Lions Clubs all over the world collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids, to be re-furbished, and re-cycled. Used eyeglasses may not be re-distributed legally in the United States, so they are sent to many nations worldwide, to improve vision for millions of individuals every year. Annually, Lions Clubs re-cycle more than over 5.2 million pairs of eyeglasses worldwide. The Lions Club International Foundation supports more than 2.5 million cataract surgeries, and has financed the construction or upgrading of 68 eye hospitals.
