RECIPE

Rose's Deepdish Pizza

1 Pillsbury Hot Roll Mix

1 ¼ cups hot tap water

2 tablespoons olive oil

½ - 1 cup whole wheat flour

1 ¼ cups pizza sauce

8 oz. Mushrooms, sliced

1 small onion, chopped

1 medium green or red bell pepper, diced

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

2 cups of shredded cheese, mozzarella, Colby, Monteray Jack or combination thereof

Grated parmesan cheese
Grease a large, deep pan ( I use 15 ¼ x 10 ½ x 2").

Combine flour and yeast in hot roll mix.

Add hot water and olive oil and mix with fork until soft dough forms and separates from edge of bowl.

Grease your hands and knead dough on surface coated with whole wheat flour for five minutes, working in flour to produce a non-sticky ball of dough.

Spread dough evenly into greased pan and prick with a fork.

Cover and let rise in a warm place for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, sauté mushrooms, onion and bell pepper in olive oil until slightly soft, drain and set aside.*

When dough is finished rising, cover with pizza sauce and then shredded cheese.

Sprinkle with one half of Italian seasoning.

Spread sautéed vegetables over cheese and sprinkle with parmesan cheese and rest of Italian seasoning.

Bake in 425 degree oven for approximately 15 minutes or until cheese starts to brown.

*Lightly sauteing and draining vegetables will prevent watery topping on pizza.
