Welcome to our study of The Iroquois of New York State.  Over the course of the next few days you will embark on a journey into the lives of the Iroquois Natives of New York State.  You will each receive a role, which you must research information and create a PowerPoint Slideshow which you will use to teach your fellow classmates.

Student Roles:
 
1. Cartographer: Your job is to explore where the Iroquois lived throughout New York State and talk about the Iroquois League and its formation.  Your final slide show must include a map that details the location of the Iroquois in New York State and specific information about each tribe and location.
 
2. Language: Your job is to research Iroquois language.  You must describe what language was spoken and research some of its words.  Your final slide should include samples of different tribe words and language information for each tribe.
 
3. Artifacts: The Iroquois were known for being handy and inventive. Your job is to research various types of artifacts that were popular and what these artifacts were used for.  Your final slide must include at least 5 artifacts with pictures and descriptions of the specific use of each tool.
 
4. Homes: The Iroquois built and lived in their homes for many years.  What were their homes called?  What did they look like? What did the inside look like?  How were they heated? How did they sleep?  Your final slide should include at least 1 picture and a description answering many of these questions.
 
5. Iroquois Children: Iroquois children had very different lives from you and I.  Your job is to research what life was like for a typical everyday Iroquois child.  Your final slide must include at least 1 picture and a detailed description of a typical day for a child.
 
6. Iroquois Men/Woman: Men and Woman who lived on Iroquois land had very different responsibilities each day. Your job is to research and detail what the role of men and women were during a typical Iroquois day. Your final slide will include at least 2 pictures and a detailed description of the role of men and women.
 
7. Clothing: The Iroquois had a very unique style of clothing.  Your job is to research and detail what a typical days outfit would have looked like. Be sure to include special clothing for events, holidays, etc. Your final slide will include at least 2 pictures and a description of these pictures detailing the research you found about their clothing.
 
8. Music & Arts/Crafts: The Iroquois had a unique music style and cherished art very much. Your job it to resarch typical music and arts/crafts and discuss their purpose in daily life.  Your final slide will include at least 3 pictures along with a detailed description of each topic.
