Land Project/Community Building

Land Project

In spring of 2009 a couple in Terre Haute donated 4.5 acres of land to the Lost Creek Township Trustee Office.  The land is located behind the current Trustee Office and the Dollar General Store on hwy 40 in Seelyville.  We have begun to clear the land in order to see what we can use the property for.  We want to extend a special thank you to Mr. Bill Biddle of Biddle Excavating for donating his time, equipment and workers to help clear the land of debris and trees.  Mr. Biddle came forward and offered to help with this project and we could not be more grateful to Mr. Biddle for helping out with this project.

A township meeting was held at the Seelyville Town Hall and discussion was made as to what "you" the taxpayer would like to use this land for.  Many idea's were mentioned and it came out that many felt a community center would be very helpful for the township.  Representatives from the Senior Citizens were there and wanted a place to meet locally.  Others wanted to have an emergency shelter place in case of a disaster in our area.  Also a meeting/reception room for the public to use.  Rick Long, Trustee suggested inside the community building the Trustee Office could be located there which would save the taxpayers rent.  A food and clothing pantry could be utilized also inside the building.   These are may ideas but we need more ideas from you so we can make this project a reality.  We are currently looking for Grants to help with this project, as we will not raise taxes for this project.
