PROJECT NIGHTHAWK OBJECTIVES

Establish a series of Common Nighthawk migration count sites. The purpose of the sites will be to monitor the size of the migrating population of Common Nighthawk in an attempt to assure the future success of the species.

Attempt to determine if a sufficient percentage of the population of Common Nighthawks migrates before nightfall to make monitoring the population a feasible proposal.

We will attempt to determine how many miles the population can travel in a set period of time, day, week etc.

Inform the general public that the Common Nighthawk is an exciting species to watch, particularly during migration, and that the species is largely going unstudied.
