During World War II, the war effort became the responsibility of every American, each asked to contribute whatever he or
she could, and the U.S. railroads shouldered their share of the responsibility. While the War Production Board restricted
the number of new locomotives that could be built, so the heavy materials could be used instead for military equipment needed
on the front, the railroads used all their existing resources to move men and equipment around the country. The Pennsylvania
Railroad was no exception.
M.T.H. pairs our muscular G5s steamer with a set of four heavyweight cars and a box car in a train ready to do its duty
as a World War II troop train. This boxed set, boasting its PRR engine and U.S. Army consist, is the perfect, patriotic addition
to any hard-working World War II-era layout.
