Please let me know if you wish to participate in SOLOX and PLEASE send you ideas for future events.
Please Nominate additional people who might be really interested, but check with them first. Richard will do most of the overall
coordination work.
What are the SOLOX events?
The art salon is only for really interested friends who wish
to gather in private homes and public art and performance forums, both for the visual and performing arts, for an enjoyable
intellectual and social pursuit ... to participate, to discuss, to enjoy ... private home sessions will involve pot-luck luncheon/brunch/dinner.
Examples:
Tour a local artist studio ... Glassworks, etc. ... go to lunch/dinner afterwords ... persian, indian,
ethiopian, italian ... probably in adams-morgan ...
Visit a local gallery, for artists' interactive talks about their
work ... Director at Studio Gallery would be an example with an exhibiting artist or two.
Attend theater and concert
performances, with interactive sessions afterwords ... like this one on 13 Sep ... please see the attached and the announcement
below.
Participate in Theatrical Readings ... Margaret led Shakespeare.
Poetry readings, jazz and poetry,
updates on Karren's opera production.
Field trip ... FLW/Falling Water ... spring 2007
Field trip ... Philadelphia Museum of
Art ... the enormous Chagall show in the mid 80's was superb; there is an unusually fine Rodin collection in Philadelphia.
Maybe we can get Ben to coordinate something with Bill Duncan ...
Ron Hollowell gave a great talk 4 years
ago in Arlington ... his years with Dizzy Gillespie ...
Director is planning to Host us at Studio Gallery on
R St ...
What is expected of you, the (ad hoc) members:
Host or coordinate an event once every 18-24 months
... SOLOX sessions will be every 6-10 weeks through the year, possibly less in the summer.
Examples from the
past when Steve did the work ...
Evie arranged a docent tour of Kreeger, dutch treat Pizza Parlor afterwords.
Margaret
did Taming of the Shrew, pot-luck.
Slide show and informal talk on the Art of Southern France ... Miro, Leger ...
others, with a Pot Luck.
