This is the Lionel #18005 New York Central 1-700E 4-6-4 Hudson Steam Locomotive/Tender side number 5340 (MSRP $2165).
Highly COLLECTABLE item available in very limited quantities during 1990. It is in Factory Sealed, NEVER OPENED, MINT condition,
Original box with Styrofoam liner, papers, in an Original Factory Carton. Like the Original 700E sold by Lionel in 1937-42, this one based on the ORIGINAL
DIE, but with newly tooled, LASER cut precision FINAL DIES ... AND with modern electronics added. Railsounds, die-cast metal construction, an operating headlight, operating smoke from the stack and the steamchest,
operating and/or scale front coupler, control button for bell sound activation, powerful Pullman motor, spoked drivers with
metal rims, metal handrails, opening boiler front, metal wheels and remote control directional operation.
The Locomotive is DIECAST, made from NEWLY LAZER cut dies based on the ORIGINAL DIES
from those used during 1937 thru the 50's. This is the MOST HISTORIC LIONEL LOCOMOTIVE ... made in 1990 in Michigan. The RAIL
CHIEF Cars are the absolute FINEST TINPLATE EVER MADE BY LIONEL ... also made in 1990 at the Lionel Factory in Michigan.
In
1937 Lionel introduced the famous 700E Hudson locomotive. This was a scale 1:48 model of the New York Central steam locomotive.
The assembled 700E came with a walnut display stand and was the first commercially produced die cast O scale locomotive made.
