According to the History of York Co, PA, by Prowell & Beers (1907), "Samuel Pedian" made improvements on land in the "Manor of Maske" in May 1741. This Samuel is too old to be our Samuel Paden but fits the son of John Peden very well.

PA in 1781,2 & 3. 1 am not sure who this is. There is a John Pedan & a Hugh Pedan in 1772 in Cumberland Co. PA. In 1783 John is in Hamiltonbann with Samuel and in 1784 Hugh is in Washington Co, where our Samuel goes. They may be brothers or in some way related. The Samuel in Hamiltonbann Twp settled there on what was called the "Manor of Maske" before May 1741 according to the History of York Co. PA by Prowell & Beers (1907). This history also showed a Samuel & Benjamin Pedan as Privates in the 3rd Co. of the 6th Bn. of York Co. Militia in the Revolution. I think this was the other Samuel since our Samuel was a Quaker and there is no Benjamin in his family. From the York County PA land records: 5 Oct 1787: Samuel Pedan, of Manaughan Twp., to Daniel Jones; 280 acres in York Co. "whereon the said Samuel now liveth," for f590 gold or silver, possesion of the house to be given 25 Mar 1788, and the balance of the premises on 1 May 1788.
