In the world of Wargame Companies this
designation is given to smaller companies that release games with components that are not professionally printed, they
do not come in a box, and most importantly they do not have die-cut unit counters. Other than that A DTP game isn't that
much different than a professionally produced game. Both have maps, rules, tables & charts, and unit counters.
DTP games are usually on topics that would
never get printed or published otherwise. Games that can't reach a P500 list or guarantee a certain level of sales don't get
made because there is very little profit in it for the major game companies. DTP games typically don't
go out of print as they can be printed in smaller quantities as needed. The big companies print so many and then that's it.
Most DTP companies are made up of people
with full-time jobs outside the company and publish games because they enjoy designing/publishing them and want to share their
designs with the wargame community.
We at Khyber Pass Games are pushing the
envelope of a DTP company. Our components, while not professionally printed, are of the highest quality and can easily be
mistaken for such. We are providing unit counters sheets that are already mounted and have thus eliminated the need
for gluing the counters to cardboard sheets that most DTP games still require.
We are publishing games on a wider variety of unexplored military topics thanks to a growing number of outside
designers that have solicited us with their games. We are providing the highest level of customer service and support
of our games as we greatly appreciate the support that has grown over these last 6 years.
We hope that you will try one of our games
and see for yourself just how close to "real" they are.
