I was throwing out old stuff in the workshop today. I found the package for a well known brand name (WKBN)l Long
Life Lithium Rechargable Battery for use in cameras. The package has a copyright date 0f 1992.
On the back of the package, it says "Powerful - Fast flash recharge time." ... "(WKBN) guarantees your satisfaction.
If not completely satisfied call 1-800-xxx-xxxx" No need to list the phone number here.
The interesting parts followed that paragraph.
"Caution: Battery can explode or leak if heated, disassembled, recharged, exposed to fire or high temperature or inserted
incorrectly. Keep in original package untill ready to use."
Huh! A rechargeable battery that may explode if recharged? No wonder that the next paragraph, the Guarantee,
says that it will replace or repair you equipment if damaged by the battery, ... except that, "Guarantee void if battery
is recharged."
The ranger job that I worked last year, as a Visitor Use Assistant at Byrd Visitor Center, is a temporary position.
It terminates at the end of each season and I reapply each year that I want to continue. There is no guarantee that
someone else more qualified won't get my slot. There is no guarantee that the budget will be there for the position
until the position is posted on the the web by the federal government. It was posted, and I mailed my application
today. Wish me luck.
My photo show at College Perk Coffee House ended yesterday. We took down the pictures and brought them home.
There are a couple of sales pending, but it looks like I will have sold about five or so images. Not bad for a first
time.
