Frequently, when weather called "cloudy" for the flatlands, Skyline
Drive is in those clouds along the high ridges.
From that perspective, it is foggy. Usually the thick grey mass of water vapor and suspended tiny droplets obscures
the views from overlooks along the drive. However, once in a great while, the weather patterns put the fog at low altitudes,
leaving the mountain ridges and peaks sticking up above the clouds. That happened on October 10, 2005. Here are some photos of the amazing view from an overlook high above the ocean of
fog.
