I'd recently found a piece of paper with Mary, Erin, and your name on it...there was a September night at Big Meadows Lodge that I will never forget...my husband and I were doing the Shenandoah portion of the AT and met up with some friends (now engaged)...we were all ready for a break and hiked to the lodge for some shine...what occured after that was a once in a lifetime experience...with Reecey's karaoke style version of Thriller, dancing with park rangers, and having a good ol' time!!!  Later on you explained to me the argument against bear bells, and helped my friends and I get back safely to our tent in the woods....I'm not sure if we ever got to tell you, but....THANK YOU!!! for a night we will never forget!!!!!!!! p.s. Love the pics!!!!  I wish I was there right now!!!....I'd rather be listening to the rain from inside of my tent then from in front of my computer!!!!

Thanks again....Christina, Chris, Troy, and Stacey

Comments: Hi, Bob, How are you? Ann? Anxious to get back to the park? You are certainly SNP's consummate ranger. I hope you are planning a return. I decided to check out your web site. Nothing you do surprises me as you are so multi-talented. By the way, I saw the image you photographed as an angel. Jan

Reply from Bob:  Thanks for the kind words.  Are you volunteering at the Byrd Visitor Center desk again this year?   You did so many different volunteer jobs in the park last year along with your other responsibilities, that I wondered how you managed.

So the Ice Mermaid of Dark Hollow may have been an angel?  Cool.

Comments: I think that is awesome. I too want to be a park ranger with the National Parks. I am in school a local college getting some biology, geology etc classes under my belt. If I can fit in volunteering at a local NP I will. But I might have to wait tell this summer and do a temp position. Congrats, and good luck. Sounds like a lot of fun.
