One tiny detail is all it takes... You've probably heard all the horror stories of underrated
materials and components being substitued for NRC approved items and the terrible danger and dire consequences that could
occur in such situations. Remember the one about the contractor that intentionally used "under specification" welding
rods to weld rebar structural support bars at a nuclear power plant? The contractor thought it was "no big deal" and
would save thousands of dollars by using material "off spec" by one tiny word. Perhaps the word related to the materials
hardness specification.
The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission experts probably were unaware that the incorrect structural steel welds were made
and buried inside thousands of tons of concrete used in forming vast and crucial containment buildings.
One small word, overlooked, one small detail slipped by and the recipe for disaster was in place waiting to unleash the
death dealing elements that it was supposed to contain.
How would this tiny yet potentially deadly error be detected. In this scenareo, the answer is by the action of
an alert and honest whistleblower, one who reveals wrongdoing within an organization to the public or to those in positions
of authority.
In another incident, Ron Bath was the whistleblower to the NRC reporting allegations of felony criminal misconduct, safety
concerns and gross mismanagement.
The NRC micro-manages every aspect of licensing, construction, operation and even decommissioning of our countries nuclear
power plants. Every little detail down to a single word is considered important and worth the effort. One little
word added or removed from a component building specification or an operational procedure can mean the difference between
safe operation and potential disaster.
One tiny word... is all it took for the NRC to find an excuse, an insignificant loophole which Chairman
Nils J. Diaz and his fellow NRC commissioners believe they can hide behind and deny Ron Bath justice and relief
from persecution in the case of Ron Bath VS The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The word was "contractor".
NRC Commissioner Nils Diaz and his cronies revel in the fact that this "contractor" loophole in the law shields them
from being held accountable for the negligence, bad judgment and shameful conduct of senior management at the region 4 NRC
office in Arlington, Texas that led to Ron's being fired in retaliation. Retaliation for embarrassing them for allowing
a felony criminal operation to be run out of the local NRC office under their very noses.
