This red cedar tree grew on one of the first farms in America. The farm was established in 1654. The cedar tree was planted at Shepherd's Plain in the 1950’s and grew to a large size until it was damaged by hurricane Floyd and it eventually died. The tree can be seen in an old photo of Shepherd’s Plain in the Library of Congress file. The cedar is on the left side of the house. The size, form and contrasting colors make this a special piece. The title is from the graceful form and beautiful colors created by nature. |
