The
BackYard Cam is
in the basement window overlooking the barn & backyard. Look
for tractors, squirrels, and a cat or pug. The picture is from a
VHS Camcorder whose composite video is run through a Snappy 3.0
video capture device running on a old, reliable, dedicated (this
is all it does), Pentium 120 hooked into the home network. The Snapper
software starts the cam about 10min prior to sunrise and stops
about 10min after sunset.
Approximate WebCam1 View

The FrontYard IR Cam is a Color/IR camera mounted on a Ninja Remote Control Pan & Tilt head. When it gets dark, the camera's IR LEDs switch on and provide invisible illumination out to about 20 feet. The composite video is run by cable up to a Winnov AV capture card on the main PC (AMD XP2000 processor).
The Lake House Cam is in a picture window. The picture is from a Logitech Orbit MP webcam whose video is fed to an IBM P4 salvaged from a dumpster. It focuses on the view of the lake from our cabin in Maine. Currently down most likely due to low winter temps causing reliability problems.
