NIGHT @ MIT The Romanian Student Association at MIT presents two documentaries Apocalipsa dupa Cioran [Apocalypse according to Cioran], (1995) and Petre Tutea - Emil Cioran o intilnire posibila [Petre Tutea - Emil Cioran a possible meeting], (1990). Both documentaries are in Romanian, no subtitles. The first documentary is of special importance because Emil Cioran never gave interviews to press. Before his death he agreed to one of his close friends, who happens to be one of the founders of Humanitas publishing house, to be interviewed on film. MIT, Friday April 23, room 6-120, 8:00pm. |

| SIX BILLION DOLLARS TRANSFERED to ROMANIA According to Mr.
Marian Sarbu, minister in the Romanian government, between 2001 and
2004 it is estimated that more than six billion dollars would be
transfered in Romanian banks by the Romanian citizens that work outside
the country. This figure does not include the cash transfers that
are not recorded. Although there is no official figure, it is
estimated that 600,000 to 700,000 citizens work outside
Romania. The office of "Worker migration outside Romania"
negotiated 72,000 contracts so far. Also, these contracts require
that the Romanian workers to have access to the local social services
in the country of temporary residence.
