"ARNOLD ARBORETUM" PARK HAS A SISTER-PARK in TIMISOARA

"Arnold Arboretum" park in Boston has a sister-park near Timisoara, Romania.  The story goes back to the turn of the century when Ludovic Ambrosy, back then the ambassador of Austrian-Hungarian Empire to the United States, had visited the beautiful park "Arnold Arboretum" in Boston, owned by Harvard University.  Mr. Ambrosy was so impressed by the variety of trees in the park that he decided to make his own arboretum.  Mr. Ambrosy owned a piece of land near Timisoara and he started designing and building his park in 1909.  The work was finished in 1914 and it introduced to the Balkan region the most exotic collection of  trees, most of them from United States.  The park has an area of about 30 acres and today it's called "Parcul Dendrologic de la Bazoş".

ROMANIAN PENSIONS RECALCULATED BASED ON EDUCATION

If you happen to receive pension from Romania you might be eligible for a raise.  A new law from June 2004, adds to the total number of years a person has worked in Romania, the number of years spent in a college or university.  This adds 4 to 6 years to your total number of years used to calculate the pension.  Also, it might make possible for people that worked less than 10 years to be eligible for pension.  Before opening up the champagne please get specific information for your case.  The average raise is about $3 to $4 per month and the fee to get your university records could be in the tens of dollars.  Also, there could be more fees associated with recalculating your pension, therefore in some cases it might not be worth it.
