The Pungo Posse is a SASS Affiliated Cowboy Action Shooting Club

We shoot the first Saturday of each month at the Airfield Shooting Club Range in Wakefield, VA. Registration/set up will be from 8:30-9:30am, mandatory shooter's safety meeting at 9:30. shoot starts at 10:00.

Directions to the range: Take 460 to Wakefield, east bound traffic will take a right at the light onto 628, west bound traffic will take a left onto 628. There is a 7-11 on the corner and signs for the Airfield 4H Center. Follow 628 for about 5.5 miles, turn right onto Turkey Pen Road, go 3/4 mile and the entrance to the 4H center is on the left. After you enter the 4H Center, take the first road on the left and follow it down to the range. The address is:

The Pungo Posse is a SASS affiliated club and all SASS rules apply with the following exceptions.

1. Moving with drawn loaded pistols or long guns loaded with live rounds is prohibited. Pistols will remain holstered, hammer down on an empty chamber or fired cartridge and long guns will not be loaded with a live round anywhere in the gun until one foot is planted at the shooting station for that gun.

2. The Wakefield 4H Center requires that no round exit the range. Any round over the berm is a Match DQ.

3. Shotshells are limited to 1 1/8 oz of #7 1/2 - #9 shot with a max powder charge of 3 dram equivalent.

4. Children under 14 1/2 years old will not handle or shoot firearms at Pungo Posse shoots.

5. The Pungo Posse will now recognize Frontier Cartridge Gunfighter as a category. This is not a SASS Category but a local one. We will also have an award for top Black Powder Shooter as long as there are at least 3 BP shooters, regardless of category, at the match.
