The
Royal Brass Quintet was first
organized in the summer of 1993 by Jean McHugh from members of the
Marshfield (WI) City Band. Jean played French horn and she was
joined by Mark Peterson (tuba), Bob Biederwolf (trumpet), Marty Schultz
(trumpet) and Gayle Ruckwardt (trombone). In 1996, Jean died
after a tough struggle with cancer. French hornist Sue Vick took
her place in the quintet, and in 1995, Kari Ruckwardt-Kollmansberger
replaced Bob Biederwolf on 1st trumpet. In 1999, Mark Peterson
took leave of the group, and Jim Bennett has been with them on tuba
since then.
Through the years, the Royal Brass has
played at several wedddings, cabaret concerts and many church services
and church concerts. Their repertoire included classical and
religious as well as modern and popular styles. Their fee for a
performance is reasonable for a group of this size and nature. If
anyone is interested in having the Royal Brass perform at a function,
their inquiry is welcome.
