Soy Dangers
Do
you believe that incorporating soy products into your diet is healthy?
The
soy industry has waged a decades long marketing campaign to convince consumers to accept soy products as the “perfect
food”. Perfect for their profits- but not for your health!
Soy
derived products now comprise over 60% of the processed foods found on grocery shelves. They are marketed as low-fat, high
protein, dairy-free, meat substitutes perfect for the vegetarian or anyone who wants to avoid cholesterol rich animal foods.
They are promoted to prevent heart disease, cancer, menopause symptoms, build strong bones and keep us young.
Soy
can be found in a wide variety of foods from soymilk, cheeses, tofu, yogurt, chips, snack foods, salad dressings, margarines,
shortening, soy sauces, fast foods, soy burgers, soy sausage, hot dogs, ice cream, soy protein powders, soy cereals, baked
goods, smoothie mixes, vegetarian entrees, frozen dinners, partially hydrogenated soy oil, soy flour, textured vegetable protein,
soy protein isolate, and all soy based infant formulas.
Almost
all soy products (90%) are made from genetically modified soy unless labeled Non-Gmo or organically grown soy.
The Problem
Hidden
underneath all the hype and marketing claims of health benefits are some unsettling facts you need to be aware of. Soybeans
contain a large numbers of dangerous substances including:
Goitrogens
which depresses thyroid function and lowers metabolism.
Phytic
acids block absorption of calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc.
Anti-nutrients reduce protein digestion and absorption and produce gastric distress (pain,
gas, bloating) due to their indigestibility.
Hemagglutins which causes red blood cells to clump and form clots.
Trypsin
inhibitors which depress growth factors and healthy cell renewal.
Endocrine
disruptors of isoflavones, genistein and diadzen which produce
reproductive problems and infertility.
Phytoestrogens (estrogen-like) which cause premature sexual development.
High
manganese levels which block uptake of zinc (critical for immune
function, male hormone production, analytical thinking, memory and attention) Soy infant formula began in the 1970 has produced
a generation of ADD/ADHD children and adults.
The Solution
Read
all food labels very carefully to check for soy ingredients
and
choose
organic and minimally processed foods that are soy free.
