Meeting Report for November 13, 2008

The meeting was called to order by the President Desi Arnaiz at the Prince William County Animal Shelter.

Other attending Chapter officers were Vice President Gordon Tassi, Treasurer Tony Midgett and Secretary Bob Pace.

Other attending member’s, associates and guests were, Darrell Harvey – VVA, Ginger Harvey – AVVA, Harry Hittle – AVVA, Fred Tompkins – VVA.

Desi requested the attendees stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Inspirational opening – Some inspirational words were said to open the meeting by Gordon.

Secretary – Report for October was distributed and accepted.

Treasurer – Tony reported that the Chapter’s checking account has a balance of $4,430.52.

AVVA Report – Ginger reported that she and Harry are going to attend the VVA Virginia State Council meeting to be held in Virginia Beach, VA on December 12 - 14 2008.

The Chapter’s AVVA membership is still at 9 members.

Ginger reported on her trip to Operation Stand-Down – Nashville, TN. Ginger was one of the performing artist at this event.

Harry reported he had pickup the ten baskets and aluminum cooking pans for the Chapter’s Holiday Food Basket program.

Committee Reports - Membership – Darrell reported VVA has 77 members.

Community Service – Gordon reported the next cleanup of Hillendale Dr. would be November 15, 2008.

No other reports at this time.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

VVA Virginia State Council – The next VVA Virginia State Council meeting well be in Virginia Beach, VA on December 12 - 14 2008.

Desi for VVA and Ginger for AVVA are going to be at this meeting for the Chapter. The meeting will be held at the Best Western Oceanfront, Virginia Beach, VA.

Holiday Food Basket Program – This years program well be on December 13, 2008 from 12:00 – 1:30 PM. Place is still at the USO Woodbridge, VA - Mary’s Way community.

Bob will place the food order and details as to who will pickup the food shall be discuss at the next meeting.

Chapter Holiday Dinner – The Chapter Holiday dinner this year well be at the “Charboil Grill” at 14239 Potomac Mills Road, Woodbridge, VA. The date of the dinner is to be on December 20, 2008 starting at 7:00 PM.

We’ll try to get a copy of the buffet menu to post a head of time for all to review.

NEW BUSINESS

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - Added to the Chapter’s web site is a new page with informational / links to other web sites on treatments and how to cope with PTSD.

Also some publications that may be down loaded have been placed on this web page with, information to help family members deal with the problem of PTSD.

Other Business:

Veteran’s Day – Chapter President Desi Arnaiz was a guest speaker at American Legion Post 10 in Massassas, VA on

Veteran’s Day.

VVA National – Bob reported that VVA National is getting ready to move their offices into a new building this summer. The location of the new building shall still be in Silver Springs, MD.

VVA National’s membership has reached over 58,000 member’s nation wide. VVA National is trying to make it to 60,000 members by the National Convention this coming year.

Also the VVA National collectibles store, on the VVA National web site, is having a 50% off sale. Now is the time to buy!

Inspirational closing –Some inspirational words to close the meeting were said by Tony.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned November 13, 2008.
