Our family learned of a mysterious condition called RSD in 2002. After
finally finding some accurate information, we learned that our Mom had acquired a chronic neurological pain syndrome caused
by a Cumulative Repetitive Stress Injury and thus it was identified as RSDS/CRPS Type I, commonly referred to as RSD. Her RSD began in her right hand, wrist, and arm. Unfortunately,
due to the delayed treatment, it has now spread and involves her left and right, upper and lower extremities.
This subject is important to us, not only because of what has happened
in our family, but because we want anyone affected by RSD to get better, instead of getting worse. This will only happen if people are aware of RSDS/CRPS, understand and recognize
the symptoms and treat it quickly.
We hope this website will help us to spread the word.
In addition to spreading the word about RSDS/CRPS,
our family would like to share different aspects of our lives with you so that you may know that that you are not alone. We will offer our different tips and ideas
on how we help our Mom, what she needs from others, stories, pictures, family perspective, and information on other resources
we have come across.
We also started a blog on Myspace @ http://www.myspace.com/rsd_upword
RSDUPWORD is about openness, research and determination. We will continue to monitor
the RSD community for information, please check back often for updated information.
