Play begins on the League's new Memorial Park field. Its layout is basically unchanged to this day except that the fence height was extended from 4 feet to 7 feet in the mid-1960s. From home plate to either foul pole is 182 feet, and from the plate to straightaway center field is 193 feet.
The League earns its first tournament game victory 24-Jul, as Rutherford American shuts out Garfield National, 3-0. On 28-Jul, Rutherford National defeats Lyndhurst American, 3-2 in 17 innings at Rutherford. The game was suspended for darkness the day before, after 10 innings.
