Details today are sketchy, but the League suspends play for about a month in July to accommodate not only tournament play but an apparent internal squabble. Play resumes in August.
Jaycees downs Rotary, 27-17, in a 16-Aug game that stands to this day as a league record for runs scored by both teams in a single day. The record was approached in 1988 when Park edged Flash, 22-21, in a game stopped after 5 innings by darkness.
