The first-ever Rutherford Little League golf outing is a smashing success. The event was held at the Highpoint Country Club in Montague, N.J., and proved to be a great time as well as a financial boon to the league.
For the third time, a Keller team goes unbeaten in regular-season play. The club, managed for a record 23d year by Jeff Cassella, repeats the 1988 team's feat by rolling through the playoffs unbeaten as well. The 1972 Keller team lost to Rotary in the Town Series.
Once again, a banner flies over the Rutherford Little League field. The National League 10-year-old tournament team captures the District 5 championship and represents the district in sectional play. Rutherford American captured the first-ever district tourney, in 1979.
