All 13 members of the league’s board of directors are re-elected, and all office holders retain their offices. Walt Mager’s run as president stretches to a 14th season.
After 51 years as a sponsor, going back to the 1957 expansion, Flash Cleaners ends its sponsorship. The team is taken over by Cedola’s Friendly Service, a service station on Union Avenue near Sunset Park.
The league accepts offers from several organizations to conduct clinics before and during the season. Both All Pro Academy and Rutherford High School assist the League.
For the second straight season, the Rutherford American 10-year-old tournament team wins a district title. They advance to the section tournament at Five Firemen’s Field in Ridgefield.
After the season, the field is renovated. A completely new surface is installed, and much of the exterior fencing is replaced.
