------The Flower of Auburn Gardens ------
you stared out from behind
the battle lines of time
eyes with no trace
of the wisdom I once sought
hands without the strength
to point and guide the way
or assist in selecting proper pieces
to fit my life puzzles
a voice which spoke bravely
of values and principles
now sinking in sands of uncertainy
What justice is there
to meet and defeat life obstacles
only to suffer
such eventual inhumilities
accepting the possibilty
that silver stars of determination
has achieved nothing
but worthless dignity
Still I see love shining
from within a golden heart
as I try so hard to reflect
the love, hope and trust
you so unselfishly
tried to teach.
Soon you will leave,
to reach beyond
all physical handicaps
knowing an eternity
filled with
smiles of happiness
