Hello Richard, My name is Kathy in Parkersburg, West Virginia. I bought my plans from you last week. Took them to Ohio, to my brother in laws...........and we made a quilt frame. I just love it cant wait to get started on a quilt..We made a few mistakes but not many, it took us a week-end to do it. AS you will see we had to make mine 7 ft. because i do not have the room in my sewing room for anything bigger...and that's just fine with me.......Thank You so much for the plans, Kathy

Hi Richard

I just wanted to send you a photo of my finished frame! Thanks so much for the wonderful plans that you have come up with. I bought a 13" Bailey Home Quilter so we had to make a few modifications. As you can see in the photo we are building a new home and my frame presently sits in my new 20x24ft sewing room! We did use larger angle iron and heavier poles, that are actually drilling pipe! No chance to the poles bowing! :) The reason for the large angle iron and drilling pipe, is that they were free!!! They were given to us by the neighbors! I still need to stain the rest of the frame, but I love it! We built it 12ft and only cost us $138! Thanks again for the wonderful plans! It works perfectly!

Nikki Brackin's Nice Quilting Frame!

Hi richard -- I'm sure you don't remember me - but I bought your quilting frame directions back in January and my father built the frame for me.  He modified it just a bit here and there (he's a machinist) but I wanted to tell you I've been using it and I LOVE it -- I will be able to use a long arm machine with it when I can afford to buy one!  That to me - is a big plus.  Anyway, when I wrote and asked you some questions at some point - I told you I would send some photos when it was done - so here they are:

quiltframe004a.jpg

I don't have the third bar up because I started this particular quilt on my machine and I needed to roll the whole thing up and not just the back.  It's working out perfectly.  We bought some canvas and the big zippers and made the leads for it and that part makes it much easier.  Daddy attached the leads to the bars with a heavy duty double sided tape used in the automobile industry.  And this weekend he's going to attach a kill switch onto the top right handle so I won't have to search for the on/off switch on my machine.  I have a Bernina with bsr and don't have to use a foot pedal but it does not stop until I hit the off switch.  Sometimes I can't find it instantly and it leaves a french knot of sorts on the bottom side of the quilt.  The kill swith will be perfect.  He also attached a small spotlight that points directly at the needle.  I have added the other light so I can see the rest of the quilt better.  And it's too low so he's going to raise it up about 8 inches.  I'm 5'5" but have to bend down to see the needle on the machine.

I love it and it's one of the best purchases we have ever made off of ebay!!  Thank you very much!!!  Nikki Brackin

Thanks Richard!

My wife has wanted a quilting machine for years but we've never quite had the finances for one. Even the Gracie's were out of our reach. What a great surprise it was to see your plans on Ebay. I finished the machine on Christmas Eve and gave it to her on Christmas morning. It was awesome! Your plans were spot on and easy to do. The material list was so perfect I only made one trip to Lowes.

Thanks and I'll echo God bless you!

Jim

Dear Richard,

I recently purchased your quilt frame instructions and, last week, my husband completed my new frame.  My husband did not fully understand what he was building or how it was supposed to work, but your instructions were very clear.  Due to space constraints, we opted for an 8-foot table and my husband chose mahogany which turned out beautiful.  We also decided to attach the roller support structure with carriage bolts and wing nuts to make it easier to dismantle the frame for storage when necessary.  In addition, we had to go with 1-inch conduit for the rollers as the size listed in your instructions was not available at our local Home Depot.  (Supplies are sometimes not a readily available here in Hawaii, so we have to improvise.)  Anyway, I wanted to thank you for making your quilt frame plans available.  I look forward to many years of enjoyment using this frame.

Aloha,

Darci Mead

Richard:

I just wanted you to know that I am half-way done with a quilt, using my new frame. I am in heaven!!!! My husband built the frame in one day. It was the easiest pattern to follow. Your directions and pictures were awesome. It is like a fever. I can't stay away from it. Thanks for the great pattern and thanks for the great husband that made it for me.

"It's been fun building the frame - the directions are great.  I'm an old back stage person from high school and college and learned to use tools way back when and have been able to put that knowledge to good use.  My DH says I'm the only woman he has ever known who wanted a compound mitre saw for Valentines day!

If I need help later, I hope I can write to you and ask!

Again, my thanks,

Hi Richard, I finally finished the table,it was a good experience. I really appreciate you for putting together this manual for a quilt frame. I very much wanted one but I'm unable to afford a nice quilt frame just now for my machine. I'm a father of seven so if it's not a must I probably wont purchase it. Anyway i can now use this frame I'm sure it will save me loads of time it's already saved me money!. My wife has now also started to quilt with me so its fastly becoming our favorite past time. I thought i loved piecing quilts together I'm finding quilting is just as fun. Thank you again!!!! I could say so much more but please except my humble thank you!!! God Bless you!!!!!
