This is a good way to attach the leaders to the poles on your quilting frame! It has been written by "Angie" from the "HOMEQUILTINGSYSTEMS" Yahoo Group! A very valued source of quilting information!

I have always advocated using Scotch 3M Co. tapes to attach the leaders. I have used this method on counting--Three frames! First my Superquilter, then my Hinterberg Original and most recently on Monday my Stretch Hinterberg. I guess you could say for years. :o) I use plain Double sided Scotch 3M brand tape (the kind you use for nice gift wrapping so that tape is not showing shiny on your package)--:o). I have added a little trick though. Take the Scotch double sided tape and a Red or Black Sharpie pen and color the whole side of the rolled up tape. Really saturate the exposed edges with the ink! Now find the seam line in the metal conduit. Start taping from the right to left unrolling the double sided tape and you will see as you unroll the edge of the tape has a slight color to it, depending on what color Sharpie (I use Red). This slight red edge allows you to see the edge of the tape so much better when applying it to the conduit. You can now line up this Red edged double sided tape with right on the line of the conduit! Perfectly straight! Now, take the edge of the leader and start in the middle of theconduit---You did remember to mark the centers of the conduit I hope.If not, you need to do this---Important. Now place the center of the leader in line with the center of the conduit and just press the edge of the leader even with the edge of the double sided Scotch tape. I put my leaders completely from one wooden edge of the frame to the other. I'm not going to explain why, but when you start using the frame you will realize it works just fine to run your leaders edge to edge. I have never had a problem with changing a bobbin, etc. You do not need a parking space with the Hinterberg frame. The next step involves the purchase of another Scotch Brand product. Clear Duct Tape. Scotch makes Clear Duct Tape, or you can also useScotch Brand Masking Tape. The tan stuff. The most important thing is the the Brand---and I'm not here to necessarily endorse Scotch 3MCorporation products...but, I will tell you they are the best, they work, they stay put and there is less residue then any of the others---plus the clear Duct Tape looks really nice on the conduit.Buy the 2" inch or 1-3/4" Scotch Clear Duct tape and start taping by placing one half of the tape on the leader---the other half on the conduit. Smoothing gently as you go. Then go back and press it with your hand--but, don't smooth it like an iron or you will get wrinkles in the tape as you go along smoothing. Gently press it, and then move to the next spot, and repeat along the whole length of the pole. I like to put an additional length of the Clear Duct tape. Half on the previous edge of Clear Duct tape, and the other half on theconduit. But---you don't have too. The second length of duct tape secures the first on a bit more I feel. Now you are finished! It will look, smooth and very secure.

Happy Quilting!
