In early April, at suppertime as usual, Liam casually suggested a trip to Philadelphia. A few days later, we headed out with reserved tickets for
The Capulets and the Montagues
at the Academy of Music.
The city was sweltering in unseasonal heat when we stopped at the red light a few yards away from our hotel which gave me the chance to take this picture.
This is the Avenue of the Arts (note the neon light emblem attached to the streetlight pole on the right). The horizontal cylindrical building on the left is the recently built Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Smack in the middle is the lean tower of the City Hall which we climbed to the top when our children were small, many years ago.
A few steps away from our hotel’s entrance, a closer view of the Kimmel Center. We had no tickets reserved, so we skipped going in, leaving it all for the next time.
If one walks from the Kimmel Center, still on the left side of the Avenue of the Arts facing the City Hall, one comes to the Academy of Music. The dear old building where over the years Liam and I spent many a magic musical evening.
