Stephen Series A Stephen Ministry Parish

St. Andrew's church welcomes all people to participate with us in worship, education, and service to the community. Established in 1919, St Andrew's is one of the four original churches formed in Hilton Village. Our mother church is St. Paul's in downtown Newport News and we are one of the over 115 congregations in the Diocese of Southern Virginia under the leadership of The Rt. Rev. John C. Buchanan , interim bishop of the Diocese.

As Episcopalians we are part of the American branch of the Anglican Communion, that worldwide Catholic and Apostolic Church transmitted to modern times through the Church of England and reformed at the time of the Protestant Reformation. Our worship is scriptural, sacramental, and prayerful. It seeks to express the beauty of our Catholic tradition, together with the freedom and warmth of our Protestant heritage.

You will find among us a healthy diversity. There are families large and small, and lots of singles. Our worship services, programs, and activities reflect this diversity and are designed to meet the needs of the entire parish.

Our strong commitment to Christian Education is reflected in the diversity of offerings at all age levels and our continuing support of St. Andrew's Day School which offers high quality education for preschool through fifth grade. St. Andrew's has a long tradition of excellence in music and supports a full-time Minister of Music who directs adult and youth choirs, as well handbell and guitar choirs.

One of the most important group of ministries of St. Andrew's is the outreach to the hungry and homeless of Newport News and beyond.

Key to who we are is exemplified by our vision:
